While the top brass at Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) India have seen quite a few changes in the past two months, the company is said to continue with its set of launches for the year as initially planned. After delaying the Jeep brand launch for almost two years now, the automaker finally announced the arrival of the iconic brand for later this year and has also commenced testing the models in the country. Fiat has imported the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 Overland in the country for testing purposes bringing down all rumours of a possible delay in launching the luxury brand in the country.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 ‘Overland’ variant is positioned a notch below the flagship Summit edition and gets Bi-xenon headlamps with signature LED daytime running lights, Nappa leather upholstery with heated seats, leather-trimmed instrument panel, door trim and centre armrest and 20-inch polished wheels finished in mineral grey in addition to the features of the mid-level Limited variant. The model imported in India is powered by the 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel engine which will be the mainstay engine while there is also a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol motor that will be on offer. Both the engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters as standard.

Jeep will be playing at the luxury end of the Indian auto market that has seen positive growth in the past years. Competing against the likes of Land Rover Range Rover, Mercedes GL-Class, BMW X5 and the very popular Audi Q7 in the segment, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will put forth a lot of power, space and extremely potent off-roading skills on offer. The luxury SUV comes equipped with special features like Quadra-lift air suspension and Selec-Terrain 4×4 system to tackle roads of all kinds. In addition to the Grand Cherokee, Jeep will also be bringing the Wrangler lifestyle SUV later this year.
