Jeep plans new SUV and deeper India investment by 2027
Jeep India has confirmed plans to introduce an all-new SUV in 2027 as part of a broader business roadmap aimed at strengthening its local presence. The initiative, internally referred to as a renewed long-term strategy, marks the brand’s first completely new product for India in roughly five years. In the interim, Jeep will roll out special editions of its existing models to maintain showroom momentum.
The announcement signals a shift toward sustained investment in India, combining product expansion with operational and customer-experience upgrades.
A key pillar of Jeep’s updated plan is expanding India’s role as an export hub. Vehicles produced at the Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra are expected to reach additional overseas markets, including parts of Africa and North America, alongside existing right-hand-drive destinations such as Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Jeep is also targeting a substantial rise in localisation, aiming to push local content levels to around 90 percent from the current 65-70 percent range. Higher localisation is expected to help manage costs and improve pricing competitiveness while insulating operations from currency fluctuations and supply-chain pressures.
Beyond product planning, Jeep says it intends to place greater emphasis on after-sales support and long-term ownership value. Proposed initiatives include expanded maintenance packages, extended warranty options and loyalty programmes designed to retain customers and strengthen brand confidence.
The company’s current India portfolio includes the Compass, the three-row Meridian, the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. Special editions of these models are expected to bridge the gap until the arrival of the new SUV.
According to leadership at Stellantis India, the roadmap is built around gradual portfolio growth, deeper localisation and a structured effort to improve customer engagement. The company maintains that long-term commitment is essential for success in the Indian market and positions the 2027 SUV as a central piece of that plan.
While details about the upcoming SUV remain undisclosed, the timeline suggests Jeep is preparing a measured expansion rather than a rapid product blitz. The emphasis on localisation, exports and ownership experience indicates a strategy that extends beyond a single vehicle launch, focusing instead on strengthening the brand’s long-term footing in India.
