Jeep To Introduce Wrangler In India As First Product

Jeep is a USA based automobile brand, in alliance with Fiat, known for producing SUVs solely. The brand is all set to hit Indian shores in the second half of this year with Wrangler being the first product coming out via the CBU route. Local assembly line is also expected eventually. The latest generation of the Wrangler will be offered by the company in India. The Wrangler is the successor to the famous 1950 Willys Civilian Jeep and is capable of doing serious off-roading with superior build quality and rugged stance.

It is a compact all-wheel drive SUV, meant for serious off-roading. The beast will be powered by a 4-cylinder, common-rail 2.8-litre diesel engine responsible for producing a peak power output of 197 BHP and 460 Nm of peak torque. The car will offer two transmissions, a 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic. It will offer a start/stop function for the engine as standard. The SUV will be featuring front and rear live-axles for better off-road capabilities.

The Grand Cherokee is expected to be launched in the Indian market after the Wrangler. The Wrangler is likely to be introduced with a hefty premium price tag of Rs. 35 lakhs, since it is coming via the CBU route. The SUVs from Jeep are expected to be sold via Fiat dealerships and the after sales services are also going to be managed by Fiat independently. The Wrangler in its international market is being offered with four trim levels – Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon. We don’t expect Jeep to offer all of the four trims in India, lets see what does Jeep has for us in its store.
