Kia Carens recalled, airbag control module software to be inspected and fixed

44,174 units of Kia Carens affected in this recall

Kia Carens recalled for inspection to fix any potential error in airbag control module software. Around 44,174 units of the MPV have been recalled.

The voluntary recall campaign will fix the airbag issue with a software update if required. The affected car owners will be contacted by the automaker directly. They’ll have to get their car to their nearest Kia dealerships to inspect and fix the issue.

The owners can schedule their appointment on the Kia India website, app or their call centre.

The Kia Carens achieved 3-stars at Global NCAP crash test, which is quite average considering the car tested had 6 airbags.

It was launched back in February and it comes with 6- and 7-seater options. There are three engines on offer – 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.

The company will reach out to the owners of the affected cars
