Kia EV6 launch price goes up to Rs. 64.95 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end GT Line AWD variant

Kia India has stepped its foot on to the electric space with the launch of the EV6 electric crossover and the price starts at Rs. 59.95 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Brought to India via the CBU route, there are only 100 units reserved for our market. But, as the car has already received 355 bookings, Kia is about to increase the count.

Bookings are already underway for Kia’s maiden electric car in 15 dealerships spread across 12 cities. Customers can also order via www.kia.com/in/. Deliveries are set to start from September, 2022.

Kia has allotted only the premium GT Line trims to India which consists of the RWD and AWD variants. The AWD commands a price tag of Rs. 64.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). There are 5 colours on offer – Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and Yacht Blue.

Kia Connect offers more than 60 features

The Kia EV6 is a new age crossover whose design is a first-of-its-kind in the world. It’s built on a pure bespoke EV platform, E-GMP, and takes no inspiration from an IC vehicle. The bonnet is short while the cabin is large with trunk space of 520 litres.

The matrix LED head lamps and tail lamps offer a striking look at the front and back. The car gets auto-folding heated ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and even auto boot opening mechanism.

On the inside, the EV6 has a plethora of creature comfort features. The seats are made of Suede leather with vegan bolsters. There’s also a 64-colour ambient mood lighting system.

On the dash there are 2 large 12.3-inch screens – 1 for instrument cluster and another for infotainment system. There’s also an augmented reality head up display.

Power supply is from a lone 77.4 kWh battery pack

As far as other features are concerned, the electric car sports dual zone remote control AC, UV cut solar glass sun roof, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, range preserving heat pump, Kia Connect with more than 60 features, surround view monitor, and paddle shifters for regenerative braking.

While the RWD is a single motor rear wheel drive unit, the AWD comes with dual motors and all-wheel drive system.

While the single motor puts out 225 HP and 350 Nm, the dual-motor’s combined output is 320 HP and 605 Nm. The RWD takes 7.3 seconds to hit the ton and the AWD does the job in 5.2 seconds.

The motors are powered by a lone 77.4 kWh battery pack with a claimed range up to 528 km (WLTP).

The matrix LEDs look striking

Kia says the EV6 can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in matter of just 18 minutes while the car can be driven for 100 km in just 4.5 minutes of charging. The battery also has reverse charging feature.

The electric car offers 8 different ADAS functions namely forward collision avoidance, lane keep assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear-cross traffic avoidance assist, safe exit assist, lane follow assist, and driver attention warning.

Additionally, the Kia gets 8 airbags, ABS, ESC, hill start assist control, multi collision brake assist, vehicle stability management, emergency stop signal, front and rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child anchor.

The EV6 comes with 3 years and unlimited km warranty while battery pack comes with an 8 year or 1,60,000 km warranty whichever comes earlier.
