Kia Offers 6 Airbags Standard On The Seltos, Price Increased

The Seltos will be the first in its segment to get 6 airbags as standard fitment

Kia equips the Seltos with 6 airbags as a standard feature on all trims ahead of the mandatory 6 airbag rule

Kia has made 6 airbags standard across all the trims of the Seltos ahead of the central government’s mandatory 6 airbag rule that will go live starting this October. But, in the process, the Korean maker has increased the prices up to Rs. 30,000/-.

With this development, the Kia Seltos is currently the only SUV in the D segment to have 6 standard airbags across all variants. It has joined the likes of the Carens MPV which too has 6 airbags standard across all trims.

The updated price now starts at Rs. 10.49 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 18.65 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom). Earlier, only the HTX+, GTX(O), GTX+, and X-Line trims had 6 airbags as standard fitment.

It is to be noted that the SUV has achieved a dismissal 3 star rating in the Global NCAP safety tests for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection.

The organisation rated the SUV’s structure as unstable and, similarly, its footwell area was rated as unstable too.

Other than this safety feature addition, the rest of the car remains the same as before. Recently, it got crucial features like ESC, VSM, BA, HAC, Highline TPMS and chiefly, disc brakes on all corners.

The Seltos got a 3 star rating in Global NCAP tests

The SUV is offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that pumps out 113 HP and 114 Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 113 HP and 250 Nm, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol that makes 138 HP and 242 Nm.

A 6-speed manual transmission comes standard with all the aforementioned engine options. All 3 motors get automatic transmission as well.
