Kia Syros EV Revealed, Gets 526 KMs Of Range

Kia has officially taken the wraps off the Syros EV, its second mass-market electric car for India. More importantly, the company has opened bookings at Rs. 25,000, with deliveries expected to begin in the coming months.

The biggest highlight of the Syros EV is its claimed ARAI-certified range of 526 km with the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack, making it the first vehicle in its segment to cross the 500 km mark. Buyers can also opt for a smaller 42 kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 443 km.

The electric motor produces 171 PS, which Kia says is the best in its segment. The bigger battery version can sprint from 0-100 km/hr in 8.1 seconds. Fast charging is another strong point, with the battery charging from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

On the outside, the Syros EV gets styling elements such as Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, Star Map LED lighting, flush door handles and new aerodynamic alloy wheels. The dashboard is dominated by a massive 30-inch Panoramic Display that combines the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and climate controls. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Harman Kardon 8-speaker audio system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger and a 16-litre front storage compartment.

The Syros EV comes with a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, an Assured Buyback programme and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), which allows customers to reduce the initial purchase cost through flexible financing options. Through Kia’s K-Charge network on the MyKia app, owners get access to over 20,300 charging points across 23 charging operators using a single app and wallet. Kia also says it has more than 129 dealerships with DC fast chargers and over 275 EV-ready workshops across India.

The Syros EV comes with Level 2 ADAS featuring 16 driver assistance functions, along with six airbags, electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, blind view monitor and several other active and passive safety features.

The Syros EV will be offered in seven variants across the two battery options. Buyers can choose from nine exterior colours along with multiple interior themes. Pricing will ultimately determine how competitive it is, but on paper, Kia seems to have ticked most of the right boxes.
