KTM RC 160 Leaked Ahead Of India Launch, To Rival Yamaha R15

KTM RC 160 leaks ahead of India launch as Yamaha R15 rival

KTM appears to be preparing to expand its fully-faired motorcycle lineup in India, with images of the upcoming RC 160 surfacing online ahead of an official launch. The new model is expected to be positioned below the RC 200 and is likely to take on the popular Yamaha R15 in the entry-level sportbike segment.

The leaked images indicate that the RC 160 will closely follow the design language of the RC series currently on sale. The motorcycle features a full fairing similar to the RC 200, along with KTM’s signature sharp styling cues. Visible elements include a familiar KTM-style headlamp, a two-piece stepped seat and a slim, raised tail section, reinforcing its sporty intent.

While KTM has not officially confirmed technical specifications, reports suggest the RC 160 will be powered by a 164cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The motor is expected to produce around 19 BHP and 15.5 Nm of torque and will likely be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. If these figures hold, the RC 160 could offer competitive performance within its segment.

The suspension setup is expected to mirror KTM’s existing hardware approach, with an upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are likely to be handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS, aligning with current safety norms and segment expectations.

With its combination of aggressive styling, expected performance figures and KTM’s brand positioning, the RC 160 is likely to appeal to buyers looking for a fully-faired motorcycle with a strong sport-focused identity. An official launch in India is anticipated in the coming weeks, at which point details on pricing and positioning will become clearer.
