Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Unveiled

Italian supersports carmaker Lamborghini has unveiled the hard-top convertible Aventador LP700-4 Roadster in the global market. This is the second version of the Aventador, the first one being the Coupe launched in 2011. The first Aventador Coupe featured a hard-top roof, while the new Roadster features a removable two-piece roof. But unlike in other sports cars, this roof has to be installed and removed manually and not electronically. The removable roof is made entirely from carbon fibre and is a two-piece push-fit assembly which when removed can be stored in the front luggage compartment.

Modern manufacturing techniques have gone into the making of this roof assembly in order to cope with the flawless aesthetics and the stiffness that Lamborghini engineers expected. The roof weighs a little less than 6 kgs and is very convenient to install too, just a matter of few seconds. The rear pillar has been re-designed to support the roof mechanism. The rear hood has also got a slight design tweak and it now allows more air into the engine compartment and reduced engine noise inside the cabin. The rear windshield could also open if you wish to hear the engine roar inside the cabin.

Another addition are wind deflectors fitted on the front column, which when not required can also be removed and stored in the luggage compartment. The new Avendator Roadster comes in dual-tone colours, where the roof and the front column are painted in black and there is an addition in the color pallete with the ‘Azzuro Thetis’ light blue body paint. The wheels are ‘Dione’ forged alloy 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inches at the rear.

The rest of the car is still the Aventador Coupe. Powering the beast is a 6.5-litre V12 engine with cylinder deactivation technology which produces a maximum power output of 690 BHP. Coupled to it is a 7-speed semi-automatic single clutch transmission and an electronically controlled 4-wheel drive system. The Aventador Roadster has a top speed of 350 km/hr and Lamborghini claims the Roadster will clock 0-100 km/hr in just 3-seconds, a whole 0.1 second more than the Coupe. The new super fast bull can be ordered from anywhere in the world with a starting price tag of €3,00,000 or Rs. 2.1 crore (excluding taxes).
