Lamborghini Launches Special India Edition Gallardo [Live]

Lamborghini has launched a special India edition of the Gallardo supercar today, which as the name suggests is specific to the Indian market. The special edition model is based on the Gallardo LP 550-2 which is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine producing 550 HP of power and 540 Nm of torque which gives it a 0-100 km/hr time of just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 320 km/hr. The Gallardo will be replaced later this year as it completes its ten year tenure. The replacement of the Gallardo is expected to be called the Cabrera.

This launch is a part of the company’s celebrations of its 50th anniversary. The Italian brand will manufacture only 6 units of the India special Gallardo LP 550-2. This limited edition super car has three color strip running at the centre – Arancio Borealis (Pearl Orange), Bianco Monocerus (White) and Verde Ithaca (Pearl Green). The company has indeed dedicated this model to the National flag of India, as suggested by the colors. The India edition Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 is priced at Rs. 3.06 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

The features and the technical specifications remain the same as that of the Gallardo LP 550-2. However, tri-color stripes run along the length of the car which again is a mark of Indo-Italian relations. Another addition is the ‘India Serie Speciale’ plate near the driver’s seat quarter glass. The Gallardo also features a black interior design. Lamborghini is betting big on the Indian market, which although quite small for super cars, has seen tremendous growth in recent times.
