Lando Norris Wins The Hungarian Grand Prix Ahead Of Oscar Piastri, Reducing The Gap Between The Top Two To Nine Points

Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix after fending off a dramatic late-race battle with teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris used a one-stop strategy to perfection, while Piastri and others chose to go for two. The British driver crossed the finish line just 0.698 seconds ahead.

Race Start

From pole, Charles Leclerc led and controlled the early stages, maintaining position after the first pit stops. Piastri attempted an undercut but couldn’t leapfrog the Ferrari. Strategy shifts later in the race reshuffled the front-runners, and the Monegasque lost the lead.

Leclerc and Piastri made two stops each, while Norris stayed out longer on fresher tyres. This helped Norris gain a crucial advantage. Leclerc’s pace fading, the McLarens fought for the lead.

Norris Vs Piastri

Piastri showed incredible speed and chased Norris hard during the final laps. He made a few attempts to overtake unsuccessfully. Norris held strong to seal his fifth win of the season.

George Russell completed the podium after overtaking Leclerc, who struggled with tyre wear. Leclerc also received a five-second penalty. He had to settle for a disappointing fourth place.

Top 10

Fernando Alonso drove consistently and claimed fifth place for Aston Martin. Lance Stroll finished seventh, delivering double points for the team. Rookie Gabriel Bortoleto impressed again, splitting them in sixth for Kick Sauber.

Liam Lawson secured eighth for Racing Bulls, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen in ninth. Verstappen had a difficult race with limited pace. Officials cleared him after an incident involving Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli scored the final point in tenth position.

P11-20

Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar narrowly missed out in eleventh. Hamilton ended a tough weekend down in P12.

Nico Hulkenberg finished thirteenth for Kick Sauber, followed by Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in fourteenth and fifteenth. Esteban Ocon came sixteenth for Haas. Yuki Tsunoda struggled and ended seventeenth for Red Bull.

Alpine’s Disappointing Weekend

Alpine endured a miserable outing, with Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly finishing eighteenth and nineteenth. Gasly was penalised ten seconds for causing contact with Sainz. With damage, Ollie Bearman retired and failed to finish.

Outlook

The summer break intensifies the championship battle with only nine points separating the top two, setting up an exciting second half of the season.
