Lincoln India Launch Possible, Trademark Applied

Ford, Lincoln’s owner has applied for the trademark

Ford Motor Company has applied for the Lincoln trademark in India, hinting at the possible launch of the American luxury vehicle brand here.

Having acquired the firm in 1922, Lincoln was founded in 1917, Ford to this day holds its ownership and has made the brand its own luxury vehicle division.

Suffice it to say, having been on the market selling luxury cars for over a century, Lincoln knows a thing or two about creating vehicles for clientele who keep in mind brand value while purchasing their vehicle.

And brand value is something Lincoln is not short of as several of its cars are known to have served as official State limousines for presidents of the United States of America.

Currently, it sells luxury sedans, crossovers and SUVs including the Continental and Navigator, two cars which are known the world over.

While the brand’s cars are sold in China and South Korea in the Asian region, seldom would have one expected them to possibly land on Indian shores. However, the Lincoln India trademark application has made that possibility more probable.

It is well known that Ford has been struggling to do numbers expected from it in the Indian market. The thinking behind (possibly) bringing the Lincoln brand to India would be that the luxury vehicle arm would help boost Ford’s brand value here.

We do not know any more about the affair since nothing has come out of the American firms on the matter. But, given that Toyota brought in Lexus to take on the established Germans, who says the Americans cannot give it a bash, eh?
