Mahindra Launches Jeeto CV; Priced At Rs. 2.32 Lakhs

Mahindra has launched the Jeeto LCV in India which is priced at Rs. 2.32 lakhs. The company calls it a mini-truck which is a sub 1-tonne load carrier.

Mahindra has been developing a small new commercial vehicle for a long time now. The vehicle has been named Jeeto and has been launched, being produced at Zaheerabad in Telangana. The new four-wheeler commercial vehicle is based on a new platform. It was codenamed P601 and was spied undergoing testing many times. The main purpose of the Jeeto will be to deliver goods. Powering the vehicle will be the m-Dura diesel engine that Mahindra has newly developed for its commercial vehicles. The engine will be offered in two states of tune – 11 HP and 16 HP. Eight variants of the vehicle will be offered, having payloads ranging from 600 kgs to 700 kgs.

The Mahindra Jeeto will come with 12-inch wheels and the vehicle’s overall styling isn’t that great. It resembles other CVs in its class up to an extent. Below the loading bay, you can find the spare wheel on the right side and the battery on the left. Mahindra claims that the Jeeto will provide a fuel efficiency of 27.8-37.6 km/l depending on the variant that is chosen. The manufacturer that produces 2-wheelers, 4-wheelers and commercial vehicles, is targeting the Tata Ace, Tata Zip and Piaggio Ape Extra LD with the new Jeeto, which has been priced at Rs. 2.32 lakhs (ex-showroom, Telangana).

Mahindra has invested Rs. 300 crores at its production facility in Zaheerabad and another Rs. 100 crores for developing the new engine. Company officials have stated that they are looking to invest another Rs. 150 crore in the facility. The manufacturer currently has a capacity to produce 92,000 units of the Jeeto per year and this capacity can be extended to 1.5 lakh units. The Jeeto will also be exported to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
