Details Of Mahindra Scorpio N Automatic Variants Revealed Ahead Launch

Trims up to Z6 only get 5 colour options

Mahindra Scorpio N automatic petrol variants don’t get 4WD, 6-seater layout reserved only for Z8 and above trims

The prices of Mahindra Scorpio N automatic variants will be announced on 21st July and, ahead of that, the variant details and the colour options of the SUV have been revealed. Some crucial aspects have been changed with respect to the automatic variants.

First of all, the automatic variants will come with both petrol and diesel engines and with both 6 and 7 seater configurations as the manual variants.

As far as petrol models are concerned, the base Z2 trim has been given the miss and the SUV will come in Z4, Z8, and Z8 L trims. While Z4 and Z8 will get 7 seats, the top-of-the-line Z8 L gets the premium 6-seater layout with 4 captain seats.

The Z4 trim will offer a choice of 5 colours – Dazzling Silver, Deep Forest, Everest White, Napoli Black, and Red Rage. But, the Z8 and Z8 L will additionally get 2 more colours – Grand Canyon and Royal Gold.

As far as diesel models are concerned, again, the base Z2 has been given the miss and the SUV will come in a total of 6 trims – Z4, Z6, Z8, Z8 4WD, Z8L, and Z8L 4WD.

The first 4 trims will get the regular 7-seater layout and the top-of-the-line – Z8 L and Z8 L 4WD will get the premium 6-seater layout with 4 captain seats.

The Z4 and Z6 will offer a choice of 5 colours – Dazzling Silver, Deep Forest, Everest White, Napoli Black, and Red Rage. But, Z8, Z8 4WD, Z8L, and Z8L 4WD will additionally get 2 more colours – Grand Canyon and Royal Gold.

Unfortunately, 4WD system has been given the miss for the petrol automatic variants. In fact, it’s the 2-litre mStallion petrol engine that offers more performance than the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.

The Scorpio N gets on-demand 4WD system

The mStallion puts out 200 HP and 380 Nm and mHawk exerts 172.5 HP and 400 Nm. The 4WD variants feature a part-time 4×4 system in which the power is sent to all 4 wheels only when the condition needed it.

Based on the level of traction on the surface, the Scorpio’s onboard computer automatically activates or deactivates the 4×4 system.

But, drivers do have some control over it. The SUV will sport a transfer case for 4H and 4L modes and drivers can manually toggle between the 2 via dedicated buttons. There’s also a dedicated differential lock.
