Mahindra To Finally Launch Mojo 300 In June 2014

After showcasing the production-ready version of the Mojo 300 at the 2014 Auto Expo in February, Mahindra 2-Wheelers is all set to launch their flagship street-fighter in June, later this year. Mahindra’s only motorcycles in the two-wheeler market currently are the Pantero and Centuro 106cc bikes that have been raking in the profits for the company. The Mojo on the other hand has been one of the most awaited products from Mahindra’s stable, ever since the prototype was unveiled in 2010, followed by a showcase at the 2012 Auto Expo.

The production-ready version of the Mahindra Mojo 300 sports several comprehensive styling changes than the one seen on the prototype, overall styling remains the same. The twin headlight unit now gets a body shell and looks more palatable than the older design. The middle-weight sports bike also gets a digital instrument console with an anologue tachometer coupled with a shift light and a low fuel indicator. Much like the Centuro, the trademark horizontal bars lend a muscular look to the Mojo. The bike’s seating position is rather upright and should support well for touring.

The Mahindra Mojo 300 is powered by a 295cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder engine capable of producing 28 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 25 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while fuel is fed through an ECU controlled fuel injection system. Mahindra has also provided 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli Sport Demon tyres. Several inputs from Mahindra’s MotoGP team – Mahindra Racing is expected to feature on the Mojo 300 for better performance and handling. The Mojo race spec version was also on display at the 2014 Auto Expo this year.

The Mojo 300 will be locking horns with the legends of the industry which include the likes of the Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM Duke 200 in the segment. Being a home grown product, we expect Mahindra to price the Mojo very aggressively and could retail it around Rs. 1.5 lakhs in the country. With so many capable products to brush shoulders with, does the Mojo have the mojo to hold its own? Come June and we will know for ourselves.
