Mahindra To Launch XUV300 EV, XUV300 7-Seater

Mahindra’s 7-seater XUV300 might be named as the XUV300 Plus or the XUV400.

The XUV300 electric claims to offer a range of 300 kms

After the success of its SsangYong Tivoli based XUV300, Mahindra is gearing up to launch a 7-seater as well as an electric version of the compact SUV. The company has confirmed its plans to introduce the model in 2022 to the European media. Codenamed as S204, the 7-seater XUV300 could get a production name as the XUV400.

In its product line-up, the XUV400 would slot above the XUV300 but below the XUV500 to rival against the Tata Hexa, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Honda BRV and the Mahindra Marazzo. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre GDI naturally-aspirated, direct-injection 4-cylinder petrol engine for the Euro-spec version. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard.

At the design front, it is likely that the XUV400 will use the SsangYong Tivoli Air (SsangYong Tivoli XLV) as the stencil instead of being a stretched-out version of the XUV300. The SsangYong Tivoli Air measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Though the wheelbase is identical to the SsangYong Tivoli, it has an extended rear overhang for additional luggage space that will be the 3rd row of seats.

In terms of features, expect the Mahindra XUV400 to be at par with the XUV300 if not more. It is likely to get leatherette upholstery, electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
