Mahindra XUV300 Research

Mahindra XUV300

Mahindra XUV300 has been regarded as the safest car in the Indian market. It has received a 5-Star global NCAP rating in adult safety and a 4-Star global NCAP rating in child safety. This has been the unique selling point of the XUV300 apart from the generous space it has to offer inside the cabin thanks to the longest wheelbase in the segment.

Pros – Safety Features, Punchy Diesel Engine, Stylish Design

Cons – Fuel Efficiency, Limited Boot Space

The grille up front is similar to the one in the XUV500 with chrome treatment. The bodyside moulding running through the car gets a lot of emphasis at the rear with the rear bumper getting a black treatment. The car gets LED lights at the back. It is also offered with a rear spoiler and skid plates at the front as well as at the rear.

Mahindra decided to equip the XUV300 with black and beige interiors. It gets 7 airbags with a unique knee airbag for the driver. The touch screen infotainment system is a 7-inch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. XUV300 is loaded with safety features including seat belt reminders for all the seats which is quite rare at this price point. There are three headrests at the rear (all adjustable). It gets a rear armrest with twin cup holders. Other features include automatic headlights, automatic wipers, and much more. One can also change the colour of the combi meter rings inside the instrument cluster with the controls on the steering wheel. It also gets an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror. It also gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a gear knob, a height-adjustable driver seat and premium grey leatherette upholstery.

Mahindra XUV300 Space

There is a lot of storage space inside the XUV300. From storage spaces below the centre console, next to the handbrake and inside the front armrest to the door pockets which can accommodate 1-litre water bottles. Special mention about the large glove box of the XUV300. The boot space can be a deal-breaker with a capacity of just 257-litres, it is comparatively lower than its rivals.

The clutch is on the lighter side while the gearbox offers sleek shifts. The suspension setup is very good. Body roll is well contained for the major part courtesy of the massive tyres on offer. The steering is pretty light and offers a good amount of feel and feedback.

Mahindra XUV300 Comfort

In terms of comfort, the legroom offered in the XUV300 is extremely good. However, the under-thigh support could have been better, both at the front and at the rear. The headroom is decent however when compared to the likes of Ford EcoSport and the Hyundai Venue, one would observe that the seating is a bit low in XUV300. Nevertheless, it makes the XUV300 feel a bit sporty.

Mahindra XUV300 Mileage

The fuel efficiency figures of the Mahindra XUV300 are not segment-leading. The ARAI mileage of the XUV300 in the petrol trim is 17 km/l and in the diesel trim is 20 km/l. In real-world conditions, one can expect around 9-13 km/l in the petrol trim and 13-17 km/l in the diesel trim.

Mahindra XUV300 Resale Value

Mahindra has been an established automaker for a long time. The XUV500 enjoys a good reputation in the market. The baby XUV is heading on the same lines and it’s no brainer that the resale value of the XUV300 is something that one doesn’t need to be concerned about. The resale value of the car is also proportional to the number of kilometres driven and the condition in which the vehicle is in.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Ford EcoSport

Considering that Ford has exited the Indian market, the EcoSport might not be the best bet. It may have been a tough call earlier however with the exit of Ford from India, the XUV300 has become a better choice.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza

The biggest drawback of Vitara Brezza is the fact that it doesn’t get a diesel engine (the only one to miss out on the same). Compared to XUV300, it is 31 mm slimmer and 13 mm shorter than the XUV300.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Tata Nexon

There isn’t much of a difference between the Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300 considering that both are Indian brands giving a lot of emphasis on safety and the build quality of their vehicles. The unique selling point of the Tata Nexon is the fact that it now gets an option of an electric whereas the XUV300 might not get the same before 2023.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Kia Sonet

The Mahindra XUV300 has the longest wheelbase in the segment. It secured the best safety rating. If someone is looking to compromise on features for a spacious and practical compact SUV, the Mahindra XUV300 is the way to go. The Kia Sonet also gets the option of an iMT which is not offered in the Mahindra XUV300.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Honda WR-V

The engine offered on the Honda WR-V is not as punchy as the ones found on the XUV300. WR-V looks under-tyred and doesn’t give a feel of an SUV compared to the XUV300 which looks bold when on the road. The WR-V is 4 mm longer, 87 mm slimmer and 17 mm shorter than the XUV300.
