The compact SUV segment continues to grow

The Tata Nexon occupied the top spot of the March 2022 compact SUV sales chart, making it the second consecutive month the model has achieved the feat.

Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza came next by registering sales of 12,439 units as opposed to the Nexon’s 14,315 units, while the Hyundai Venue (9220 units) did well too.

Its sister car, the Kia Sonet was fourth in the list, having found 6871 new buyers in March this year, and the fifth position was taken by the Mahindra XUV300 with 4140 unit sales.

The Thar, also from Mahindra and arguably the proper SUV in the list, did well yet again as the utility vehicle maker delivered 3893 units of the compact off-roader to customers last month.

The Nissan Magnite did better than the Renault Kiger last month

Toyota retailed 3079 units of the Urban Cruiser, while Nissan sold 2942 units of the Magnite which occupied eighth place in the March 2022 compact SUV sales chart.

Renault’s Kiger was next with 2496 unit sales and the Honda WR-V was last yet again as only 251 units of the Jazz-based crossover went to new homes in the month of March.

Of the 10 cars featured in the list, the Thar (104 percent), Nexon (65 percent), XUV300 (60 percent), and Vitara Brezza (10 percent) posted year-on-year (YoY) sales growth.

In all the cars in the list registered sales of 59,646 units last month as opposed to 54,642 units in March 2021, which is a solid 9 percent YoY growth in sales.
