Maruti Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV to launch in India with two battery options
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, in the Indian market later this month. After several timeline revisions and its initial unveiling towards the end of 2025, the model is now approaching its official price announcement, with dealership test drives expected to start soon thereafter.
The e Vitara will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa retail network and will be offered with two battery configurations. Customers will have the choice of a 49kWh or a larger 61kWh battery pack, with the latter delivering a claimed range of up to 543 km on a single charge. Variant-wise, the electric SUV will be available in Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims, with the smaller battery limited to the entry-level Delta variant, while the higher trims receive the larger unit.
On the safety front, the e Vitara has recently undergone evaluation under the Bharat NCAP programme, where it achieved a five-star rating. The SUV will also be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, making it only the second model in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio to offer ADAS features.
As Maruti Suzuki enters the rapidly expanding electric SUV space, pricing will be a key factor influencing market reception. The e Vitara will face competition from a growing list of electric SUVs already present or arriving in the segment, placing additional emphasis on value, range and feature offerings.
