Maruti Wagon R EV Spotted In Production-Ready Form Yet Again

Maruti has decided not to tease petrol heads by covering the EV up with camouflage material

Spotted out in the open once again, the Maruti Wagon R EV should be launched in India in 2022

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV has been spotted undisguised yet again as development work on the small electric hatchback nears completion.

This time though, Maruti has not bothered to even mask the manufacturer’s logos present on the car, as its identity has been revealed already.

Based on the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) powered Wagon R, the electric hatchback features the same side profile, but its front fascia has been altered completely.

There are new headlights, while the radiator grille has been replaced with a slim blanking trim piece that connects the lighting units which house the indicators.

The new front bumper features a rather narrow air intake which is flanked by fog lights, and the bumper at the back has also been completely redesigned. The same however, cannot be said about the tail gate though.

Stepping inside, although there are no interior images of this Maruti Wagon R EV spotted on test, the car’s interior has been spied earlier, one would find a cabin similar to that of the ICE Wagon R.

There will be a mildly revised instrument cluster and new air-con controls with a digital readout and of course, the gear selector would be different too. However, the shape of the dashboard, the seats and features on offer will likely be the same.

Annoyingly, details about the Wagon R EV’s powertrain are next to non-existent. But, it is expected to come with a city driving range anywhere between 150 km to 200 km and should support fast charging as well.

Likely to be retailed through Maruti’s Nexa chain of showrooms when it gets launched in the market next year, the electric hatchback should be priced right, in order to sell well in India.
