MG launches updated Hector lineup with refreshed styling and reduced pricing
MG Motor India has introduced a refreshed version of the first-generation Hector, with prices now starting at Rs. 11.99 lakhs (introductory, ex-showroom). The update brings a notable reduction of around Rs, 2 lakh compared to the outgoing model. Alongside it, the updated Hector Plus (6- and 7-seat versions) has also been announced, with prices beginning at Rs. 17.29 lakhs â over Rs. 1.6 lakh lower than before. For now, only petrol variant prices are available; diesel pricing will be revealed next year.
The facelifted Hector and Hector Plus receive subtle exterior revisions. The large grille maintains its size but adopts new honeycomb inserts in place of the earlier diamond pattern. The front bumper has been reshaped and the 18-inch alloy wheels get a new design. Lighting elements, including the split headlamp setup and connected LED tail-lamps, remain unchanged. Two new colours â Celadon Blue and Pearl White â have been added to the palette.
Inside, the 5-seat Hector gets a dual-tone Ice Grey cabin, while the Hector Plus variants receive a tan interior theme. A key update is the enhanced 14-inch portrait touchscreen, which now includes MGâs iSwipe gesture controls for climate and audio adjustments. Other features continue unchanged, such as ventilated front seats, a 7-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 360-degree camera and a PM 2.5 air filter.
Mechanically, the facelift retains its existing powertrains. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine continues with outputs of 143 HP and 250Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The diesel version is expected to continue with the 2.0-litre, 170 HP unit. While the earlier diesel was limited to a manual gearbox, it remains to be seen whether MG will introduce an automatic option with the facelift.
With the latest revision, the top-spec petrol variants of the Hector and Hector Plus are now cheaper by up to Rs. 1.85 lakhs, potentially making the models more competitive in the crowded midsize SUV space.
