Meet the Motrac Unicorn, which, although named wonderfully, is a design rip-off of MV Agusta’s Superveloce 800.
The Superveloce 800 is a motorcycle with distinctive design that oozes flair and passion. Its faithful copy has the same circular headlight, sleek fairing, sculpted fuel tank and narrow tail. Even the red and silver paint scheme is carried over.
However, unlike the Italian retro-style bike, it does not have intricate detailing that would make it special and bits like raised clip-on handlebars, basic twin rear shocks and box-section-esque swingarm, do look ugly.
What’s more, only the design of the Motrac Unicorn is like the Superveloce 800. Its mechanical bits do not even come close to what is present on the Italian bike.
Instead of a screaming engine, the Unicorn has a twin-cylinder motor displacing 800cc and making a rather poor 61 PS at 7500 RPM and 70 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM. In comparison, MV’s Superveloce 800 has a 798cc triple putting out 147 HP and 88 Nm.
Strangely, having given the Unicorn such measly power and torque outputs, Motrac has fitted its 17-inch rims with 140-section front and 200-section rear tyres. Also, the twin 320 mm discs at the front and 300 mm rear disc seems overkill.
We do not know if anybody would be willing to purchase such a motorcycle. But, it might appeal to a person who wanted a Superveloce 800 but could not get his or her hands on one.
