New Honda City For China Spied, Gets Substantial Changes

A Chinese website has revealed spy pictures of the latest Honda City which is expected to launch in their country most likely by September 2015.

The front end looks good, but the rear design might not appeal to all

The City has always been one of the most popular and successful cars to roll out from Honda showrooms all over the world. The new Honda City was launched in the Indian market in the beginning of 2014 and has manged to keep all its rivals at bay ever since. The sedan has always been able to do well when it comes to offering the best in all departments and has managed to stay at the numero uno position pretty much since day 1.

The latest Honda City which is due to launch in China in September 2015 is 4495 mm long, 1705 mm wide, 1477 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2600 mm. In comparison, the India-spec City is 4440 mm long, 1695 mm wide, 1495 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2600 mm. Therefore, the China-spec City is a tad bit longer and wider but is otherwise shorter in height than the India-spec model. The front fascia of the vehicle has completely changed and features a bolder front grille that has a chrome strip running across. The bumper and headlights seem to have a few changes as well, giving the front a fresher look.

Coming to the sides, the lower crease running across the body has changed. There is also a set of new alloy wheels that match well with the overall structure of the upcoming sedan. The top-end trims get a blacked-out B pillar as compared to body coloured B pillars that feature on the lower variants. Majority of the design changes are seen at the rear of the City, where the tail lamps are completely new. In the shape of a “C”, the reverse light and indicators are placed in between. There is a chrome strip running across from one end to the other over the number plate housing and I must say that the overall layout looks quite odd.

The car will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will be able to output 131 BHP. This is a China specific model which will not make it to international markets. Let us know what you feel about the new Honda City.

The higher and lower variants are well differentiated
