New KTM RC 390 Spotted On Test

KTM is likely to unveil the new Duke 390 and the RC 390 at the 2019 EICMA.

The test mule shows a halogen projector headlamp

The new KTM RC 390 has been spotted undergoing tests in Austria. The motorcycle has retained some sharp elements from the previous model besides getting a new fairing. We expect an LED unit to be offered with the bike even though the test mule shows a halogen projector headlamp that is now located in the centre.

In the previous model, the turn indicators were located on the mirror stalk, whereas the new KTM RC 390 gets them integrated within the front fairing. The fuel tank seems to be bigger in size while the side profile shows the overlapping panels that form the fairing. The subframe in use by the new model appears to be sleeker than its predecessor as well.

The KTM RC 390 gets a new split seat. The rider’s seat looks larger while the pillion’s perch looks flat and wide. Needless to say, it’s a welcome change from the previous model’s high-riding and uncomfortable space! It also gets a slim tailpiece and what looks like a mock unit for the headlamp. Expect a sleeker one on the production RC 390.

In line with the current Duke 390, we expect KTM to offer a full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity. The test mule features an upside-down WP fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear for suspension duties. The braking components seem to be carried forward from the previous model.

Currently, the KTM RC 390 is powered by a 373.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that produces 43 PS while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The new model will optimistically conform to BS6 norms.

KTM is likely to unveil the new Duke 390 and RC 390 at the 2019 EICMA. Expect these bikes to be available in the Indian market soon after they are launched internationally.
