Next Generation Ford Figo Twins Caught Testing In Udaipur

Ford continues testing the next generation Ford Figo hatchback and sedan on Indian roads. The test mules of both the vehicles were recently spotted near Udaipur.

The Figo compact sedan looks nice and the boot doesn’t look like an afterthought

Ford had unveiled the new Figo hatchback and compact sedan just prior to the 2014 Auto Expo. Both the vehicles are the same as the new generation Ford Ka which is sold in Brazil. Since then, the automaker has been testing these vehicles on Indian roads in order to tune them for Indian conditions. Recently, mildly camouflaged test mules of both the vehicles were spotted indicating that the car is in final stages of testing. The cars were being driven by American folks who waved and smiled for the camera unlike Indian test drivers who speed away as soon as the car is spotted!

Although most of the elements of the concept vehicles have been retained, the LED headlamps have been replaced by normal halogen units. The pictures suggest that the top-end variant of both the vehicles get features such as alloy wheels, ORVM integrated indicators, fog lamps and rear wiper (hatchback only). The Brazilian model of the Ford Figo compact sedan is above four metres in length but the length of the vehicle has been reduced for India in order to take benefit of lower excise duty for sub-four-metre vehicles. This would help Ford offer the compact sedan at an attractive price point.

The 2015 Ford Figo hatchback will most likely be powered by the same 1.4-litre TDCI engine as the current Figo but the 1.5-litre unit from the Fiesta and EcoSport is likely. It might also get the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, sans a turbocharger. The Figo compact sedan would also get the same engines as the hatchback, in the exact same state of tune. Ford is planning to launch some new cars in India to increase its sales and market share. The Figo twins are the first in line to be launched here followed by the new Endeavour. The compact sedan will come first in July, followed by the hatchback in September.

The upcoming Ford Figo twins are sure to boost the company’s market share in India
The new Figo looks much better than the current model which looks a bit dated now
The base variant seems to be skipping on most features for an aggressive price
Design elements like the Aston Martin style grille and the new alloys look nice
