Hyundai has released the first official teaser of the next-generation i20, offering an early glimpse of the premium hatchback before its global debut scheduled for next month. The upcoming model will mark the fourth generation of the i20 and is expected to bring notable changes in design, technology and features.
The teaser image highlights a redesigned front fascia featuring a sharper styling approach than the current model. Visible elements include arrow-shaped LED headlamps and Y-shaped LED daytime running lights connected by a full-width light bar, suggesting that Hyundai is adopting a more futuristic design language for the hatchback.
While the company has not revealed interior details, reports indicate that the new i20 could receive a substantially updated cabin. Expected upgrades include a curved display setup integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen into a single unit. Additional features such as a 360-degree camera system and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) may also be introduced, bringing the hatchback in line with newer models in Hyundai’s global portfolio.
Under the hood, the next-generation i20 is likely to continue with petrol-powered options, including mild-hybrid technology in certain markets. There are also indications that Hyundai could be evaluating an all-electric derivative as part of its broader electrification strategy, although no official confirmation has been provided.
The new i20 has already been spotted undergoing testing in India, hinting at a future launch in the domestic market. The India-spec version is expected to retain familiar engine options, including the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol units currently offered in the model range.
More details about the fourth-generation i20 are expected to emerge closer to its official unveiling next month.
