Nissan has introduced a dealer-level CNG retrofitment kit for the Nissan Gravite, priced at Rs. 82,999 as an introductory offer. The kit is available as an optional add-on over the Gravite’s existing ex-showroom price range of Rs. 5.65 lakhs to Rs. 8.93 lakhs. Customers can opt for installation through authorised Nissan dealerships across 60 cities spanning 16 states.
The retrofit system uses a dual-cylinder setup, consisting of two 25-litre CNG tanks mounted vertically in the boot. While this configuration preserves the vehicle’s 7-seat layout, it effectively eliminates usable luggage space. The Gravite’s ability to retain all three seating rows despite the twin-cylinder arrangement highlights its packaging efficiency, though practicality for carrying cargo is compromised.
According to Nissan, the kit has been certified by ICAT and developed in collaboration with Motozen, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Buyers also receive a 3-year or 1,00,000km third-party warranty on kit components, adding a layer of assurance for long-term usage.
Mechanically, the Gravite continues with its 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72 HP and 96 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT, but the CNG kit is expected to be offered primarily with the manual variants. Official performance figures and fuel efficiency data in CNG mode have not been disclosed. A dedicated CNG filling nozzle has been integrated within the fuel lid for added convenience.
It is worth noting that this retrofit solution differs significantly from the factory-integrated approach seen on the upcoming Renault Triber CNG variant. The Triber’s system features underbody-mounted twin cylinders enabled by platform-level modifications, allowing it to retain boot space. In contrast, the Gravite continues with a conventional boot-mounted layout, similar to earlier retrofit solutions offered in the segment.
