Nissan Kicks Spotted Testing In India For The First Time

This is the first ever sighting of the Nissan Kicks after the company confirmed its India launch.

The Nissan Kicks seems to be undergoing electronic testing

Nissan, looking to better its run in India had recently announced the launch of its Kicks compact SUV here in 2019. The company had said that it will make some India specific changes to the globally sold Kicks to meet the market demand. Now, for the first time ever, the test vehicle of the Kicks model has been spotted in India.

The Nissan Kicks that has been spotted is completely camouflaged. But this didn’t stop us from noticing a design change for the doors. The tail lights too seem to have gotten a slight redo. The car looks more or less the same and retains that compact SUV appeal.

The Nissan Kicks that will be sold in India is based on the company’s more economical B0-platform that is also used by the Terrano. This is clearly being done to save costs and price the Kicks competitively in the fierce compact SUV segment. The globally sold model is based on the more expensive V-platform.

The interior details of the spotted Nissan Kicks are still vague but the final production model will get a roomier cabin and more connectivity options, both of which have already been confirmed by the company. Other features will include auto air conditioning and a touchscreen infotainment system that should support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Engine options for the Nissan Kicks will most likely be the 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines that are already powering the Renault Duster. The 1.5-litre petrol engine outputs 104.55 HP and 142 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre diesel on the other hand comes in two engine tunes, 83.8 HP and 108.4 HP and 240 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a manual gearbox but the option of an automatic gearbox is still unknown.

The Nissan Kicks will be coming to India next year to compete with the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, both of which sell in excellent numbers. The coming months should see more such spottings of the Kicks that should help us in getting more details about the model.
