Nissan Tekton Launched, Priced From Rs. 10.49 Lakhs

Nissan has launched the Tekton in India at a starting price of Rs. 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The SUV is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster but features Nissan’s own styling and interior theme. It is available in six variants – Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+ – with bookings now open. Customer deliveries will begin on July 20.

The Tekton is priced between Rs. 10.49 lakhs and Rs. 18.59 lakhs (ex-showroom), which is the same price range as the Renault Duster. It is offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. The entry-level 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine produces 100 HP and 166 Nm of torque and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Buyers looking for more performance can opt for the 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that develops 163 HP and 280 Nm. This engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Nissan has not introduced the 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain on the Tekton. That engine will continue to be exclusive to the Renault Duster when it is launched later this year.

The Tekton gets a different design from the Duster despite sharing its overall shape. The front features an upright grille with chrome inserts, slim LED headlamps, C-shaped daytime running lights and a sculpted bonnet with Tekton lettering. It also gets newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, while the rear features connected LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler and a body-coloured tailgate.

The SUV measures 4348 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2657 mm. It offers 212 mm of ground clearance and a 518-litre boot. Nissan is offering the Tekton in six exterior colours, with both monotone and dual-tone paint options available.

Inside, the cabin gets a dual-tone rose gold and burgundy colour scheme. Higher variants feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and a powered tailgate.

Safety features include six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot assist, front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake. Since it is based on the Renault Duster, the Tekton also benefits from the same 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

The Nissan Tekton enters the competitive midsize SUV segment and rivals the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Citroen Aircross, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
