Nissan Tekton Scores 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Nissan Tekton has been awarded a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The SUV achieved the highest overall rating for both adult and child occupant protection, with the certification applying across all variants of the model.

In the adult occupant protection assessment, the Tekton scored 30.49 out of a possible 32 points. During the frontal offset crash test, it received 14.49 out of 16 points. The SUV was rated ‘Good’ for protecting the driver’s head, neck, pelvis and thighs, while chest, tibia and foot protection was rated as ‘Adequate’. The front passenger received a ‘Good’ rating across all major body regions.

The Tekton also scored the maximum 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. In the side pole impact test, it received an ‘OK’ rating, contributing to its overall adult occupant protection score.

For child occupant protection, the SUV recorded 45 out of 49 points. Bharat NCAP evaluated the vehicle using rearward-facing child dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old occupants. The Tekton secured full marks in the dynamic crash protection tests and also received the maximum score for its child restraint system installation. Its vehicle assessment score stood at 9 out of 13 points.

The Tekton comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and three-point seatbelts for all seating positions as standard. Higher variants are also offered with a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), which includes features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring.

The Nissan Tekton is currently priced between Rs. 10.49 lakhs and Rs. 18.59 lakhs (ex-showroom). It competes in the midsize SUV segment against rivals including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and its platform sibling, the Renault Duster.
