Piaggio Launches Vespa 946 Bellissima In The USA

As we all know, the Vespa 946 might be the most pricey scooter in all of human history but since it is so good looking it can be excused. The Vespa 946 Bellissima has been launched in the States and is priced at a whopping $10,500, which in our currency turns out to be Rs. 6.38 lakhs. In the US, the Vespa is only limited to 100 units. The Vespa 946 offers exclusivity like no other in a unique way too. The 946 Bellissima is a single-seater to further accentuate the curvature of the steel body at the rear. Piaggio will provide a passenger seat kit for those who don’t ride alone. The 2014 Vespa 946 Bellissima collection will be available in two colours, Metallic Gray and Metallic Blue.

The scooter comes with LED headlight with heat dissipation system, LED tail light and indicators and a full LCD multi-function instrument panel. On the technical side, the sheet steel monocoque body with aluminium parts such as handlebar, saddle support, side panels, front mudguard and rear mirrors come as standard. Riding dynamics are meant to be good and stopping power will be courtesy of 220 mm disc brakes on both ends with two-channel ABS braking and ASR electronic traction control. 12-inch alloy wheels with a 120 section tyre at the front and a 130 section tyre at the rear are offered.

The Vespa has a 8.5-litre fuel tank. The scooter is set to offer a mileage of 50 km/l. The engine is a 155cc fuel-injected, 3-valve unit. The Vespa 946 is bound to come to India at double the price of what our friends in the USA are getting for. Since it is going to find single digit number of buyers, we will see how Piaggio pulls this off. Pricing will be as much as the Honda City and for bikers, well you are better of with some 800cc motorcycle you always have been saving for. If your wife asks for this scooter as a gift, get ready to run for your life!
