Production Of New-Gen KTM RC 200 Commences In India

Quite a lot of people might not like the way it looks

Looks like KTM has not wasted time in starting the production of the 2021 RC 200, as one image of a completed motorcycle has emerged online.

Back in September a pre-production mule was spied during its test runs (read article here) and now production of the model has commenced, meaning we can expect its launch anytime in the first half of next year.

Spotted inside Bajaj’s manufacturing facility, the 2021 KTM RC 200 misses mirrors and seats, but is otherwise a finished product.

Straight off the bat, it is clear that there would be an outcry with regard to its looks, as the sharp twin pod headlight cluster has been replaced with the Duke 200’s halogen headlight with a new fairing wrapped around.

However, as can be seen, the production-spec model does have DRLs and indicators integrated into the fairing, while the windscreen looks big enough and functional.

The fairing too is different, with a simple and clean design that should suit the KTM bike’s minimalist nature. Expect the tail light to be an LED unit and, the seats will be split and have a different design to the current model.

One thing that will be different on the 2021 RC 200 is the instrument cluster. It will borrow the Duke 390’s TFT digital console, and provided that it will cost more than the Duke 200, will be a nice touch.

Other things such as the powertrain and suspension components will be carried over, but we will have to throw a leg over the bike and take it for a ride to know if there have been any chassis changes.

When it gets launched in India sometime next year, expect the motorcycle to cost around Rs. 2 lakhs (ex-showroom).
