Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar 200 AS, an adventure version of the popular 200 NS. The Pulsar 200 AS is priced at Rs. 91,500/-.

The Pulsar 200 AS will appeal to a new set of buyers who want something different

Expanding its Pulsar lineup, Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar 200 AS (Adventure Sport) in India, priced at Rs. 91,500/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price is introductory which is the first time (in recent years) that we have seen the Chakan based automaker offer a Pulsar at an introductory price. The Pulsar 200 AS is positioned at youngsters who want practicality on weekdays and the fun factor on weekends. The company states that the Pulsar 200 AS has the “power to go any distance” and has 20-30% more power than competition. The wheelbase is the same as the 200 NS at 1363 mm (the RS 200 has a shorter wheelbase at 1355 mm).

The Pulsar 200 AS gets front and rear disc brakes (280 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear). There is no ABS on offer and only one variant is available, with three colours on offer – red, black and blue. The company has skipped on body graphics which is a good thing. Powering the Pulsar 200 AS is a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, carbureted engine which employs triple spark plugs and produces 23.5 PS of power with 18.35 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It is underpinned by a perimeter frame and gets a projector headlight which is not present on any of its rivals. The front gets a large windscreen visor.

The Pulsar 200 AS differs from the 200 NS by having a semi-fairing, full sized rear mudguard and no rear tyre hugger, it is also marginally longer and taller. The Adventure Sport also gets MRF tyres and has the same underbelly exhaust as the Pulsar Naked Sport. The 200 AS differs from the 150 AS by having a bigger engine with 3 spark plugs and liquid-cooling, better brakes and wider tyres (100/80/17 front and 130/70/17 rear). The weight of the Pulsar AS 200 is 153 kgs which is 10 kgs more than the AS 150 while the ground clearance is 167 mm.
