Pulsar 200 NS Ownership Interview With Nirmith

The Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS has gone on sale in all states in India recently and now we have got the very first ownership experience about the bike.

Tell us about yourself. Who you are? What do you do?
I am Nirmith from Bangalore. I am doing my graduation in BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration).

When and how did your love for cars/bikes or both start?
Ever since I started walking, I loved cars and bikes. Then on, these are just the ones, I love like hell.

Which bike did you own before the Pulsar 200 NS?
I learnt riding on my cousin’s Yamaha RX-100. Then my father gifted me my first bike which was a red 2010 Bajaj Pulsar 220F. It was like the best bike ever. Definitely the R15 was the better one but it does not give the kind of thrill I got on the Pulsar. However, there were many flaws with the bike, yet it was a great bike.

When did you buy the Pulsar 200 NS? Why did you chose the Pulsar?
I sold my Pulsar 220 to my younger cousin who was learning to ride after doing 11,655 kms on it. Then, while I was looking for another bike, I learnt about Pulsar 200 NS. I really loved it because firstly its is Pulsar and secondly I trust the Bajaj brand. Its after sales service is also good. Lastly, I am a Pulsar fanatic. My first choice was the Duke 200. But its low mileage made me change my mind and I waited for the new Pulsar. Moreover I liked the Pulsar styling better. The performance too was similar to that on paper. I finally booked it and mine was the fifth bike to come out of the showroom.

How many kms have you done? How many do you do everyday?
Till today, I have done just 520 kms. I do about 35-40 kms daily on an average.

What do you love the most about the Pulsar 200 NS?
Its quality has improved almost 50 times than the Pulsar 220. The meters are good. Performance is excellent. Gearbox is awesome unlike the one in the 220. Styling and the ride are just awesome. It absorbs bumps with ease. Finally, they threw that dirty handlebar grip of the 220 and now we get a softer hold.

What you don’t like about the Pulsar 200 NS?
The rear part of the styling package looks a little bit ugly. The panel gaps near the rear seat is just huge. They took away features like self cancelling indicators and other small things, like you can lock the bike only on one side and when you switch the engine off by engine kill switch, the speedometer also goes to sleep. These are small irritating things which you do not want to face while in traffic.

Will you trade your Pulsar 200 NS for any other bike? If yes, which one?
No, I wouldn’t do that.

What is the fastest speed you have achieved on the Pulsar 200 NS?
Just 62 km/h. Still in the running period.

What mileage does the Pulsar 200 NS giving you?
Approximately 35-38 km/l.

What modifications have you done to your Pulsar and what do you plan to do in the future?
Nothing as of now but would love to upgrade it with better tyres and a K&N air filter. But, cosmetically I have got rim stickering done.

Why is your Pulsar 200 NS so special to you?
I do not know. I just love it like how you love your brother. People might think its strange but it is actually true. We do at times love non-living things. Pulsar is like yet another member of the family for me.

How is the performance of the Pulsar 200 NS?
Just awesome. It may feel similar to the 220 but it is actually better. It can give any 200-250 cc bike a run for its money in the current market situation.

Any tips for prospective Pulsar 200 NS buyers?
Just go ahead and buy it if you are keen on it. If you have something else in your mind, just have a look at this package. I’m sure you’ll think twice about your other option.

Which is your dream car/bike?
Lamborghini Aventador and Dodge Charger 1970 HEMI. Dream bike has to be the RD 350, R1 and Ducati Panigale, 1198 street-fighter. Well, the list actually is endless.
