Rally Driver Extracts 28 Kmpl From i20

Fuel Efficiency is one of the prime reasons for a car sales and Hyundai knows that very well. Thus they placed Australian Rally Champion Ed Ordynski behind the wheel of an i20 and sent him on a journey from Sydney to Brisbane. Ordynski managed to complete the journey and even went past Brisbane, reaching the Queensland city of Bundaberg, 1,269 km, with only one tank of fuel (53.63 liters), extracting a mileage figure of 28 kmpl. The car used was a 1.4 liter i20 Active model, equipped with continuously variable valve timing (CVVT), an aluminium block and offset crankshaft. We wonder what the diesel variant would achieve!

“I was quite astonished. I originally thought Sydney to Brisbane on one tank seemed an impossible task, especially on the Pacific Highway but then the i20 just kept on going – far beyond our wildest expectations. It was a remarkable journey and a truly special result,” ” Ordynski said after the run.
