Without a doubt, the Evoque from Land Rover has been amongst the most sought-after luxury SUVs in India. Adding to its Range Rover Evoque lineup consisting of the five-door and coupe version until now, the British automaker has launched the Range Rover Evoque Convertible in the country at a price of Rs. 69.53 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). This two-door convertible is also India’s first convertible SUV which makes it a tempting proposition for the elites to own.
The Range Rover Evoque itself is a well-designed car to start with and the introduction of a retractable roof only takes its appeal to the next level! With exterior dimensions of 4370 x 1900 x 1609 mm (length x width x height), the Evoque Convertible is slightly longer, shorter and narrower as compared to the five-door model. Nevertheless, it gets an identical wheelbase of 2660 mm and two rows of seats as well. To accommodate the mechanism for Z-folding roof, the boot space has gone down from 575-litres to 251-litres.
Overall, there is no change in the design language and the car continues to flaunt a clean muscular silhouette with strong shoulder lines. The all-black cabin is adorned by perforated Windsor leather seats and silver accents. Infotainment duties are taken care of by 10-inch InControl Touch Pro unit that presents its output through a Meridian Surround 660-watt sound system. The feature list comprises of adaptive xenon headlamps, heated ORVMs with memory function, surround camera system, 12-way powered front seats with memory function and ambient lighting among others.
Powering the Evoque Convertible is a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine that comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This all-aluminium motor develops 237 BHP of power and 340 Nm of torque to direct the 2-tonne SUV from halt to 100 km/hr in 8.1 seconds, on to a top speed of 217 km/hr. Besides 4WD, the vehicle also gets All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) to take on road, gravel, sand and snow without breaking a sweat. The SUV is available in a total of 12 body colours with the upper half including the A-pillars and ORVMs finished in black.
