RE 650 Twins Recalled For Software Update

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Test Ride Review

RE to recall the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 to update software to handle high altitudes.

The engine remap is a 10-minute job

Royal Enfield may exercise a soft recall for the 650 Twins to remap the engine for better high altitude performance. This problem was faced by quite a few owners of the Twins. Some bikes tend to stall at low revs at high altitudes.

Royal Enfield investigated the issue and found that it wasn’t a one-off problem and will now revise the engine map on the bikes. The new lot of bikes that are yet to be delivered will get the engine remap from the factory itself.

The engine remap is a 10-minute job and the owners won’t have to wait for long hours at the workshop to get their bikes updated. Recently, RE had to recall the 650 twins for fitment of rubber stoppers in the rear shock absorbers as the first lot of the bikes sold were not fitted with these rubber stoppers.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, both motorcycles have been recalled to fix this issue. The bikes manufactured after June will be having this update pre-installed.
