RE Classic 500 Pegasus Edition Sold Out In Under 3 Minutes

RE Classic 500 Pegasus Limited Edition

Only 250 out of 1000 units of the limited edition model went on sale in in India and all of them have found homes.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition has been inspired by the the Royal Enfield WD 125 that was used in World War II

Inspired by the Royal Enfield Flying Flea motorcycles used during the World War II, the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition was sold out in under three minutes, 178 seconds to be precise, through an online flash sale. A dedicated web-page was created for this sale and the bike was sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. The bike was to go on sale earlier but its site had crashed then because of a server overload.

Royal Enfield will be producing only 1000 units of the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition out of which 250 were allotted to India and all have been sold out. Even though the bike costs Rs. 2.4 lakhs (ex-showroom), India sees a cult following for this motorcycle and the superfast sell out of the bike shouldn’t shock you. It was expected and it happened.

To make the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition stand out from the usual Classic 500, it gets a Pegasus logo on the fuel tank along with a unique serial number and two canvas panniers on its sides. It gets a blacked out silencer, brass buckle across its air filter, brown handlebar grips and headlamp bezels. The company also offers two colours for the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition in the international markets. These are the Service Brown and Olive Drab Green. But since the military green is reserved for the Indian Army, only the Service Brown colour is available.

The engine however remains the same as the one that powers the Royal Enfield Classic 500. It is a 499cc, fuel injected, air cooled motor that produces 27.2 HP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

For those of you who don’t know, the Flying Flea, as it was fondly called by the men who rode it was officially named the Royal Enfield WD 125. It was powered by a 125cc engine and the bike was very lightly. This allowed it to be dropped via parachutes and provide a quick mobility platform for the Airborne Pegasus Regiment of the British Army.
