Renault Bridger Concept Revealed, India Launch In 2027

Renault reveals Bridger concept previewing new compact SUV for India launch

Renault has unveiled the Bridger concept, offering an early look at a new compact SUV planned for the Indian market. The production version of the model is expected to arrive by late 2027 and will likely sit between the Kiger and Duster in Renault’s local lineup.

Designed as a sub-4-metre SUV, the Bridger concept adopts a rugged design theme with boxy proportions and a muscular stance. The concept also indicates Renault’s plans to expand its presence in the competitive compact SUV segment.

At the front, the Bridger concept features slim LED lighting elements and illuminated Renault lettering, integrated within a large blacked-out grille section. The bonnet includes a recessed dark insert, while the lower bumper houses a wide air intake and a prominent skid plate, contributing to the SUV’s off-road-inspired appearance.

From the side, the concept showcases square-shaped wheel arches, body cladding and 18-inch alloy wheels, along with a claimed ground clearance of 200 mm. The rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar and the rising window line tapers towards the rear, adding to the SUV’s distinctive profile.

At the back, the Bridger concept adopts a bold design with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, flanked by sharp LED tail-lamps. The rear bumper also features a chunky skid plate, reinforcing the SUV’s rugged styling cues.

While Renault has not yet revealed images of the interior, the company claims the cabin will offer one of the most spacious layouts in the compact SUV segment. Rear passengers are expected to benefit from around 200 mm of knee room, while the boot space is claimed to be 400 litres.

The upcoming production model will be built on Renault’s R-GMP platform and will be offered with multiple powertrain options. The company has confirmed petrol, hybrid and fully electric versions, positioning the Bridger as a multi-energy offering.

Renault also plans to manufacture the SUV at its Chennai facility, with the model intended not only for the Indian market but also for export to international markets.

With its mix of rugged design, multiple powertrain options and a focus on practicality, the Bridger is expected to play a key role in Renault’s future strategy for India’s compact SUV segment.
