Renault Duster & Nissan Terrano Facing Water Seepage Issues

The Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano are facing water seepage issues due to a misaligned drainage hole. Renault and Nissan are only replacing the drainage pipe and not the floor mats.

The Duster and Terrano are basically the same vehicle with different badges

Renault launched the Duster with a bang and the vehicle continues to generate a good number of sales every month. After that, Nissan too launched its rebadged version of the same vehicle and called it the Terrano. Both the vehicles are doing decently well but there is one issue that has been reported by many users. Every air-conditioned car comes with an evaporator and the evaporator needs to flush out water every time. For this, manufacturers install a drainage pipe which directs the water to flow outside the vehicle. If the drainage pipe is missing or the drainage hole gets misaligned, there is a high chance of water seeping into the interiors of the vehicle and wetting the floor carpeting and mats.

The same issue is cropping up in a number of Renault Dusters and Nissan Terranos. Customers have complained that they are facing this water seepage issue and after taking their respective vehicles to authorised service centres, all that the service staff did was install a new drainage pipe (which was not there in the first place) and solved the problem. However, the floor mats which got damaged due to this issue are not being replaced under warranty. A foul smell starts to emanate in the vehicle thanks to all this moisture which can be quite annoying for users.

We think both Renault and Nissan should look at this issue properly and solve it for every Duster and Terrano customer rather than waiting for only those who report it to the service centre. The Renault Duster is priced between Rs. 7.86 and 13 lakhs while the Nissan Terrano is priced between Rs. 9.63 and 12.50 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Renault and Nissan should study this issue and solve it immediately
