Renault Duster Oroch Pickup Truck Concept Unveiled For Brazil

Renault is planning to make its entry into the pickup truck segment in South America with two new models, out of which one will be similar to the Duster Oroch concept.

The Duster Oroch Concept has been designed as a recreational 5-seater pickup

Renault has unveiled the new Duster Oroch pickup truck concept at the ongoing Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil that showcases the compact crossover in a double cab pickup avatar. The French automaker is planning to make its way in the pickup truck segment across South America with at least two models and one of them will be based on the Duster SUV. The automaker has termed the concept as a recreational pickup truck with a seating capacity of five and a robust stance of an SUV.

The Duster Oroch pickup truck concept has been designed by Renault’s design centre for Latin America (RDAL) and comes with a satin white finish with orange accents that highlight the sporty personality of the pickup truck. The design takes some cues from the Duster based D-Cross concept car that was showcased at the Sao Paulo show back in 2012. The front fascia gets a premium touch with LED DRLs inside the headlight cluster, matte black finished grille and Duster badging on the bumper. The pickup sports 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/60 tyres, flush door handles, roof rails, panoramic sunroof, side step as well as with black body cladding on the wheel arches.

In addition, there are two rear mounted cameras that covers the surroundings with the video feed displayed on the new multimedia screen inside the cabin in real time. The interior also packs in several futuristic components including the new ‘Cover Carving’ technology for the seats that adds another layer of foam in the seats and allows them to be used more extensively. The overall interior is done up with new bright orange and charcoal grey colours, while a new material has been used across the dashboard, door trims and seats that looks like neoprine wetsuits.

Renault states that the pickup truck market represents 75 percent of the light commercial vehicle space accounting to almost 9,20,000 unit sales per year across South America. Few months ago, the automaker did release a single cab Duster variant, but that was solely for a Romanian oil and gas company. A timeline for launch of the Duster based pickup has not been announced yet.
