Renault Kwid Gives Out 57 BHP With Its 800cc Engine

Renault Kwid First Look Review

The 800cc, twin cam, three-cylinder petrol engine that will power the upcoming Kwid hatchback is said to output 57 BHP and might become the most fuel-efficient car in India.

The Kwid has impressed everyone with its SUVish looks

Renault India has done a stellar job on their latest product, the Kwid hatchback. When the company revealed the hatchback to the world last week, everyone’s eyes simply popped out. The styling of the entry-level offering is just amazing and features bullish compact SUV like dimensions. It is certain that the Kwid is going to be one superb product in the market and will help the French car maker grab a larger share in the small car market, because we Indians just love big cars, don’t we? The Kwid also has many segment first features like a fully-digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that works in its favor.

The first Renault-Nissan Alliance model is based on the latest Common Module Family – Affordable (CMF-A) platform and measures 3.68 metres in length, 1.58 metres in width and has a ground clearance of 180 mm. The car is going to be powered by a newly developed 800cc, twin cam, three-cylinder petrol engine. However, the company did not reveal the power figures of this engine.

According to recent reports, the Kwid outputs a total power of 57 BHP from the 800cc petrol engine. But, the low power figure will not hamper the performance of the hatchback as the vehicle is said to have short gear ratios to make it peppy along with a light kerb weight. The mileage figure is also expected to set a new benchmark in the segment and the Kwid might go on and become the most fuel efficient car in the country. Renault also seems to be working on enhancing the power of the automatic variant which will feature a rotary shifter and the company may even launch a diesel and more powerful petrol engine variant of the Kwid a year after its launch.

It is also believed that the interiors of the latest kid on the block is designed by an Indian. Yes that’s right! If this indeed is the case, then it ain’t hard to explain why the Renault comes with a full digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment system. It will be priced at Rs. 3-4 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Kwid will definitely turn out to be a game changer for the company, which seems to understand the Indian car buyer’s sentiments very well.

Interiors are well designed, especially the steering wheel
Kwid will definitely become a volume seller for Renault
