Renault, however, made started producing a slightly more safer version of the Kwid April onwards and hence Global NCAP tested that too.

The updated Kwid without safety features scored a similar rating as the older Kwid but the structure did not collapse. The variant that comes with a driver-side airbag was also tested and it again scored zero stars for adult occupancy protection and 2 stars for child occupancy protection.

Renault has stated that all their products meet the safety standards set by Indian regulations and the automaker will comply with the timelines set for the new safety regulations to be enforced in India.
