Renault Lodgy To Be Offered With 2 Diesel Engines, Launch In April

The Renault Lodgy will be hoping to dislodge the long serving Toyota Innova from its throne. The new MPV will get two diesel engine options like the Renault Duster.

Not a premium offering worldwide, but the Lodgy will be locking horns with the likes of Ertiga and even the Innova

Renault India has so far not revealed much about the Lodgy which is confirmed to be launched in April 2015 but did mention that the car will have good performance to give it a much needed advantage over its well settled competitors. It was earlier expected that the Lodgy will be powered by the same engine which is doing its duty on the Renault Duster, which is the 1.5-litre diesel mill offered in 85 HP/200 Nm tune.

It has now been revealed that the much anticipated Renault Lodgy will be offered with a choice of two diesel engines. The Renault Lodgy will be available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that offers 84 HP or 109 HP depending on the trim. The top-spec variant Stepway is most likely to sport the 109 HP diesel engine while the lower variants are expected to house the engine with the lower state of tuning. We hope the Lodgy does indeed turn out to be another good offering from Renault after the very successful Renault Duster.

The Lodgy is basically a product of Dacia which is Renault’s low cost brand from Romania. For the Indian model, Renault has made multiple changes on the exteriors, the grille and the side also gets a chrome treatment instead of black plastic along with new alloy wheels to make this car a premium offering in India. Renault is also looking to intensely localize the Lodgy at the Renault-Nissan JV plant in Oragadam, Chennai to keep costs in check.

The Dacia Lodgy received three stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests
