Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Spied Testing In Ladakh, Shares Design Cues With The ‘Him-E’ Concept
Royal Enfield has been teasing the launch of an electric bike for a long time. In EICMA 2023 in Milan, Italy, they showcased a concept known as ‘Him-E’, abbreviated to Himalayan Electric. The test mules of the Himalayan Electric were spotted testing at a hotel in Ladakh.
Aluminium Structural Components
The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric is expected to be a competent off-roader; however, the electric format will remove the emotion from the bike. The production-ready test mule has a custom aluminium swingarm. Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric also makes the mainframe and subframe of aluminium instead of using a tubular trellis-type structure.
The luggage mounts and heel plates are constructed using aluminium, similar to the Himalayan 450 and 411. In addition to this, the Himalayan electric also gets off-road footpegs. The aluminium battery case also has some patterns which may try to simulate the Himalayan region.
Styling
The Himalayan Electric borrows design cues like the fuel tank from the ‘Him-E’ concept. However, a front beak is missing on the test mule. The bike gets all LED projector headlights and tail lights with integrated turn indicators.
Wheels & Suspension
Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric features premium components like the spoked wheels type SM Pro Platinum Enduro, made from billet aluminium. The wheels are wrapped in knobby-type Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross tyres. In terms of braking, there is a petal disc in front and rear with Nissin callipers.
Brake fluid reservoirs are located on the handlebars. The front has a fully adjustable upside-down fork suspension setup with a fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock setup at the rear.
Features
The Himalayan Electric also featured an ECUMASTER 7-inch instrument cluster and positioned like a tower. In terms of performance details, the electric batteries shall deliver similar performance to the regular Himalayan 450.
Outlook
The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric’s launch date remains unconfirmed at this point. The Himalayan 450 will be the largest competitor of the electric Himalayan. It will be fascinating to observe how Royal Enfield positions the Himalayan Electric in its ADV lineup.
