Skoda Enyaq iV Electric SUV Design Revealed

Strong character lines give the electric SUV a tough presence

Skoda has revealed the design of the Enyaq iV electric SUV ahead of its unveil that will happen in Prague on 1st September 2020.

Based on Volkswagen Group’s modular electrification toolkit (MEB), the car’s design, according to Skoda’s Head of Exterior Design, Karl Neuhold, builds on the firm’s new design language that can also be seen on the new gen Octavia.

He also states that the Enyaq iV design draws inspiration from Bohemian crystal art, adding that its proportions differ from the brand’s previous SUVs, since it has a shorter front end and an elongated roofline.

A plethora of lines and creases define the entire design of the SUV that also has the MPV look from the rear three-quarter angle. The front of the car gets a more upright grille (DRLs run across it in one of the released images), LED matrix headlights and a nicely designed air dam area.

Along the sides, we the shoulder line running from the end of the headlights to the taillights with the lower portion of the door getting a couple of strong lines too.

Go to the back and surprisingly, the glass area is small and the LED tail lamps are slim. Overall design of the car is dominated by the strong lines, making it a good-looking machine. It must be noted that the interior design of the car was revealed last month.

Since it is an EV, the Skoda Enyaq iV design has less body overhang both at the front and rear. The carmaker says that despite it being an SUV, it only has a drag coefficient value of 0.27, which is impressive.

It seems Skoda is betting big on the Enyaq iV and even considers it as an important step towards a sustainable future for the company. The EV race is set to become more intensive and interesting.
