Skoda Auto India has commenced bookings for the Kodiaq RS, the sportier and more powerful version of its flagship three-row SUV. Customers can reserve the model with a booking amount of Rs. 3 lakh, while official pricing is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Kodiaq RS will be offered in limited numbers, with only 50 units earmarked for the Indian market. Positioned above the regular Kodiaq Laurin & Klement (L&K) variant, the RS aims to cater to buyers seeking enhanced performance alongside premium SUV practicality.
Powering the Kodiaq RS is a revised 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 261 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Skoda’s all-wheel-drive system. According to the company, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 6.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 231 km/hr.
In terms of styling, the RS variant receives several cosmetic enhancements to distinguish it from the standard Kodiaq. These include blacked-out exterior elements such as the grille, roof rails, mirror caps and window surrounds. The SUV also features 20-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers, reinforcing its sporty positioning. Buyers will have a choice of four exterior colours: Steel Grey, Velvet Red, Magic Black and Moon White.
While the complete feature list has not yet been disclosed, the Kodiaq RS is expected to retain most of the equipment available on the standard model. Likely highlights include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof and three-row seating. Additional RS-specific touches such as sport seats and unique interior detailing are also expected.
With its increased performance and limited availability, the Kodiaq RS is expected to command a premium over the standard Kodiaq range. Pricing could exceed Rs. 50 lakhs (ex-showroom), though official figures remain awaited.
