Skoda Auto India is set to begin accepting bookings for the Kodiaq RS from June 22, ahead of the performance SUV’s market launch in the coming weeks. The Kodiaq RS will mark the arrival of the RS badge on a Skoda SUV in India for the first time, bringing a combination of enhanced performance and sportier styling.
The company has confirmed that only 50 units of the Kodiaq RS have been allocated for the first batch. The SUV will be imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU), resulting in limited availability during the initial phase.
According to Skoda India, the decision to introduce the Kodiaq RS aligns with the brand’s motorsport heritage and the legacy of its RS performance sub-brand. The company believes there is a dedicated enthusiast audience in India that appreciates performance-oriented Skoda models.
The limited allocation follows a similar approach taken with previous niche performance products from the brand. However, Skoda has indicated that additional units could be considered in the future depending on customer demand and allocation availability from global markets.
Under the hood, the Kodiaq RS is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 265 HP and 400 Nm of torque. Compared to the standard Kodiaq, this represents a notable increase in output. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
The SUV also benefits from performance-focused upgrades, including larger brakes with slotted discs and two-piston front calipers. Details regarding features such as adaptive suspension for the Indian-spec model are yet to be confirmed.
Visually, the Kodiaq RS distinguishes itself from the standard SUV through revised bumpers, black exterior accents, larger 20-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers. Inside, the cabin adopts a darker theme with red contrast stitching and sports seats featuring RS branding.
Given its CBU status and performance-oriented positioning, the Kodiaq RS is expected to command a significant premium over the standard model. Industry estimates suggest pricing could fall in the Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 55 lakhs (ex-showroom) range, although official prices will be announced closer to launch.
