2026 Skoda Kushaq Gets Upgraded AC Compressor & Revised Piping

2026 Skoda Kushaq Facelift Monte Carlo

Skoda improves Kushaq AC performance with new compressor and revised plumbing

Skoda has addressed one of the most common complaints associated with the pre-facelift Kushaq by upgrading the air-conditioning system on the 2026 model. The midsize SUV’s update is significant on several fronts including a new 8-speed automatic gearbox option for the 1.0-litre TSI engine design tweaks and added equipment, however the AC revision is among the more technical improvements.

Owners and reviewers of the original Kushaq often reported that the cabin cooling performance felt inadequate especially during peak summer conditions. This feedback also applied to other Skoda and Volkswagen models built on the India 2.0 platform. According to Skoda, the issue largely stemmed from the use of a fixed-geometry compressor which was selected to keep component costs in check.

For the updated Kushaq Skoda has switched to a variable-geometry compressor that can adjust output based on cooling demand. This type of compressor is typically more efficient and reduces strain on the engine in comparison to a fixed-output design. Skoda says the new compressor costs only marginally more than the earlier unit. Additionally the AC system now features revised piping to improve refrigerant flow which should help achieve faster cooling.

The new compressor architecture is expected to extend beyond the Kushaq. Facelifts for the Slavia Virtus and Taigun are anticipated this year and these models are likely to adopt the same updated AC hardware along with their respective cosmetic changes, added features and the new 8-speed automatic gearbox option.
