Skoda Kushaq facelift launched with new gearbox, features and updates
Skoda has introduced the updated Kushaq in India with a starting price of Rs. 10.69 lakhs (ex-showroom). The facelifted compact SUV is available in multiple variants, with deliveries commencing from today. The model was first showcased earlier this year, with bookings opening shortly after its debut.
The updated Kushaq adopts Skoda’s latest design direction, featuring revisions to the front grille, updated lighting elements and new alloy wheels. Changes at the rear include connected tail lamps, while minor exterior detailing such as redesigned door handles adds to the refreshed appearance. Overall dimensions remain unchanged.
Inside, the cabin layout remains largely familiar, but the feature list has been updated. The SUV now gets an updated infotainment system with a revised interface, along with a new digital instrument cluster. One of the notable additions is a rear seat back massager, positioned as a segment-first feature. Despite being a five-seater on paper, the cabin continues to be better suited for four occupants in terms of comfort.
A key mechanical update is the introduction of a new eight-speed automatic transmission paired with the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine. While power output remains unchanged at 114 BHP and 178 Nm, the new gearbox is expected to enhance drivability and efficiency. The 1.5-litre TSI engine continues in the lineup, producing 148 BHP and 250 Nm, and is now offered exclusively with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda has also revised the ownership package for the Kushaq. The SUV now comes with a standard 4-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, along with four years of roadside assistance. Customers are also offered a service package that includes labour-free maintenance for a limited duration, with options to extend warranty coverage further. Additional benefits include corrosion and paint warranties.
The Kushaq continues to compete in a crowded midsize SUV segment against models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Tata Curvv, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. Its Volkswagen sibling, the Taigun, is also expected to receive a similar update in the near future.
